Announcement Date: July 22, 2014
Many years ago the ARRL Board used to hold its meetings in conjunction with large Conventions around the country. This allowed for more member interaction with the Board and thereby more transparency. More transparency leads to more accountability of the Board to the members.
In recent years, the Board held one meeting outside of CT. The meeting was held in New Orleans in 2013 (before K4AC was on the Board) and was not in conjunction with any major Convention. The meeting location and accommodations were poorly chosen and the meeting cost significantly more than holding it in CT. That meeting is used by Board members as an excuse for not holding Board meetings outside of CT.
K4AC sought to return Board meetings to being held in conjunction with major Conventions, but the Motion failed 12-3.
